Exciting wood waste recycling news from EMS Waste Services and Bay Skips

If you already use our waste and skip services, you may know that our family-owned and operated company has been hard at work now for just short of three decades. Through all these years, our commitment to seek increases in the volumes of waste we are able to recycle at our facility has been a strong driving force.

With this principle in mind, we have some terrific news to share with you. We can now confirm that we are recycling all of our recycled wood waste right here on our own estate in Exeter.

How have we achieved this?

Well, if you were to pay a visit to our transfer station, you’d now find that, right beside it, we have completed the construction of a superb thermal processing and energy plant!

In terms of recycling, what does this mean?

It means that we now have the capability to process our recycled wood waste and also dry our non-hazardous non-recyclable wastes right beside the transfer station. Previously, our wood had to be transported elsewhere; now it can actually be used within just a few metres of the point where it has been recycled.

Further good news – by now being capable of drying our non-recyclable waste here on-site, this should lead to a dramatic reduction in the weight that we have to send either to landfill or for incineration.

Our future aims

With these great improvements now firmly in place, we can again look to the future. Our commitment will continue to be to aim to recycle just as close to 100% as is possible. Through the actions we take, into 2017 and beyond, our many customers from across Devon can be assured that our EMS Waste Services team are always disposing of waste in the most environmentally friendly way we can. Our state-of-the-art picking and sorting operation also helps greatly with this aim.
